The reqirements analysis performed considered all factors that impact design, installation, activation and support. The facilities were inspected, drawings reviewed, specifications including desired throughput capabilities and the physical installation environment were considered. The Cable Plant installation of almost a one million feet includes CAT.5 (Plenum and non-Plenum), CAT.3 and 24 Strand Fiber. THE EPABX SYSTEM: DATAEQUIP has selected the NEAX 2400 manufactured by NEC America. This Integrated Communications Management System is one of the most advanced PBXÆs available. The system employs the latest advances in technology such as VLSI circuit technology. The system provides the agency with the technological cornerstone to adapt, assimilateand fully integrate emerging technologies for information transfer on an external or internal facility basis. The NEAX 2400 ICS is being installed as a multiple mode group configuration. This configuration can support 6144 interface ports.
THE NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: The Network Mangement System is based on products manufactured by the LANNET corporation which has recently been acquired by Madge Networks. The LANNET LAN Switch hub products are the only hubs on the market that provide a low cost migration path to the ATM switching technology by already having the high speed cellenium bus in each chassis. Also the cards in the hubs will drive the ethernet signalling further than the 328 feet specified by the IEEE standards. This switch has the highest rated throughput, guarnatees zero packet loss and can handle a traffic load of 30 ethernet streams simulatneously. In addition it is the only hub on the market that has an active congestion managment system. This allows the switch to handle 6 clients trying to access the same port with no packet loss. This switch provides an easy migration path to ATM technology in the future in a cost effect ive manner. This system is a true cutting edge network.
VOICE MAIL SYSTEM: DATAEQUIP is installing the REPARTEE Voice Mail System manufactured by Active Voice Corporation. This is a complete and powerful system with Voice mail, automated attendant, and audiotext functions fully integrated for seamless, reliable communications. Standard platforms and a unique user interface makes the sophisticated system easy to use with very little training.
PAGING SYSTEM: A suitable paging system integrating mulitple vendors is being provided to meet the requirements of the conttract. The selected vendors include Soundolier, TOA, Peavey and Bogen. The complexity associated with the topology and ambient noise considerations inherent to an hospital arena were considered in the selection and configuration of the system. The interface to the NEAX 2400-ICS has been designed to assure a high quality voice path with the controls, security and hierarchy of access specified.
TELEPHONE STATION EQUIPMENT: NEC's fully digital, electronic instrument with liquid crystal display is being provided. This instrument has 16 programmable keys, 20 additional speed dial keys capable of 2 such functions each for a total of 40 functions and 7 fixed functions. Each instrument will be equipped with a customized face plate referencing specific information and feature access codes. The emphasis has been on user friendly access and use.
